Animals can be very delicate creatures. They need specific food, medications and shelter to ensure their safety and welfare. Dogs and cats can require a large packs of special treats. So, there should be a storage area for dog food or cat food, as well as grooming products. This storage space must be separated from parts of the house like your kitchen so that children will not mistake them for cookies.

Pets should have their own sleeping area or bed, which you can make on your own to save you money. You will need some fabrics, a 2-inch thick foam, polyester fibrefill thread and a large basket. You will also need some old newspapers, tape, scissors, a marker, an electric knife or box cutter, a needle, a sewing machine, pins and an iron. Here is what you should do to make your pet’s bed.
1) For the pattern, spread the newspaper on any surface. Lay the sleeping basket on top, trace its bottom on the newspaper and cut out the pattern.
2) Place the pattern on the centre of the folded fabrics and pin it. Cut out the fabric.
3) Pin fabrics together and sew them leaving a small opening for turning and stuffing. Turn right side out and iron to flatten the material.
4) Pin the pattern to the foam and cut out with knife or cutter. Remove the pattern. Roll up the foam and stuff it inside the fabric. Once you get it inside, unroll the foam and use the polyester fibrefill to stuff it to the desired thickness. Stitch the opening. Now, your beloved pet can have a bed of its own.
Fleas can be one of the major concerns when having pets in your house. You will find the most fleas on your pet’s favourite spot in the house like the under the coffee table, on the kitchen floor, in its bed or on the patio rug. You can spray those areas, especially your pet’s bed, with flea-killing chemicals. Before doing that, it would be wise to sweep those areas and use a vacuum cleaner to make sure that you can get ride of all the fleas and bugs. To make sure that the whole house is rid of fleas, you can also vacuum all the other rooms and spray it or use a flea bomb. Since the flea spray or bomb will not be able to kill the fleas’ eggs, you need to do this routine every few days for a period of time.
